PhlatLight white LEDs they are designed for efficient, reliable, long-life operation over the industry’s widest operating range. With superior lumen output ranging from 1,750 lumens for the CBT-90 and exceeding 4,000 lumens for the CBM-360, these powerful new PhlatLight LEDs provide lighting designers an ultra-bright, point source of white light with superior optical coupling enabling new applications with better optical system efficiency, breaking through the design limitations of tiled arrays of conventional 1mm LEDs.
Optical Power
The hallmark of PhlatLight LEDs is the unprecedented optical flux per package that can be generated – even at nominal current densities of 0.350A/mm2. A PhlatLight LED can replace arrays of lower power LEDs, thereby reducing system complexity and cost.
Wide Operating Range
PhlatLight white LEDs are qualified at current densities as high as 1.5/mm2 in continuous operation for applications that demand extremely high optical flux. For other applications that require high energy efficiency, PhlatLight LEDs can be driven at lower current densities to achieve efficacies (lumens/watt) that are competitive with the best in the world.
Thermal Management
With a thermal resistance from junction to heat sink as low as 0.7 ºC/W, PhlatLight devices have the lowest thermal resistance of any LED on the market. This allows the LED to be driven at higher current densities while maintaining a low junction temperature, thereby resulting in brighter LEDs and longer lifetimes.
Binning
The PhlatLight white binning structure goes beyond the recently released ANSI C78.377-2008 standard specifying the chromaticity of solid state lighting products. Luminus has sub-divided the ANSI quadrangles to achieve industry leading 3-step MacAdam bins.
Reliability
Proven in the field with very low failure rates and median lifetimes that are well above 60,000 hours, PhlatLight LEDs are ready for the most demanding applications.
