Luminus Devices' Founder and CTO to Discuss PhlatLight as a New Solid-State Light Source at Semicon West 2008

June 30, 2008

WHO: Dr. Alexei Erchak, founder and chief technology officer of Luminus Devices, the manufacturer of PhlatLight® (Photonic Lattice light) LED technology, the brightest commercially available LED in the world. Dr. Erchak designed, fabricated and tested novel light sources using photonic lattices and pioneered the photonic lattice light-emitting diodes. Dr. Erchak brings technical depth in compound semiconductor devices, nano-fabrication technology, condensed matter theory, and photonics.

WHAT: Dr. Erchak’s presentation is titled “PhlatLight: A New Solid-State Light Source.” Dr. Erchak will describe the solid-state light source called PhlatLight®, manufactured by Luminus Devices. PhlatLight was originally used to illuminated RPTVs in 2006 and is currently being used to illuminate large back-lighting units for LCD TVs. Due to PhlatLight’s very high-brightness and efficiency in display, PhlatLight LEDs are helping to accelerate the transition from conventional to solid-state lighting for general illumination applications.
